2007 International Forum on Landslide Disaster Management

About the Forum

The 2007 International Forum on Landslide Disaster Management will be held in Hong Kong from 10 to 12 December 2007.  It is organized under the auspices of the Joint Technical Committee on Landslides and Engineered Slopes (JTC-1) of the ISSMGE, ISRM and IAEG.  The Forum will also be one of the key activities marking the 30th Anniversary of landslide disaster management in Hong Kong.

The Forum will be jointly organized by the Geotechnical Engineering Office (GEO) of the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region (HKSAR), the Hong Kong Geotechnical Society (HKGES) and the Geotechnical Division of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE).

The Forum will comprise a compact and intense session for about 60 invited experts from different countries to share experiences and thoughts on the state-of-the-art and best practices.  It will address focused subjects of direct relevance to landslide disaster management.  Highlights of the Forum include presentation of country reports and a benchmarking exercise on landslide debris mobility modelling.  Participants of the Forum will be by invitation only.
